Jonthan Trott has spoken of the "honour and privilege" that he felt after receiving the award for the ICC Cricketer of the Year.

Speaking to the ICC at their lavish awards ceremony on Monday, the 30-year old right-hander said, "I am pretty young in international cricket so to have won this award is a real honour and privilege. It is a great feeling because it comes at the end of a very fruitful year."

The Warwickshire man has been the cornerstone of England's charge to the summit of the Test rankings and has scored 1042 Test match runs during the qualification period that ran from 11th August 2010 until 3rd August 2011.

Coupled with Alastair Cook - who was named ICC Test Cricketer of the Year - and has scored 1302 runs it is easy to see why England's ascent has been so swift.

Cook said of his award: “It is amazing that I won this award despite there being so many great names in the nomination."

He also paid tribute to the teamwork that England have shown this year saying, "It is not as much about me as about the team. It is great to be part of the success as it has helped me reach here."
