This week the cricket community managed to leave the Kevin Pietersen saga behind it and move on to more (joyous) topics of conversation, namely discussions about Prince Harry’s naked antics in Las Vegas.

It is fair to say that cricketers gave Harry the big thumbs up. Mark Butcher (@markbutcher72) tweeted, “What's the point of being an unmarried heir to the throne if you can't get some in Vegas? #harry.”

Young Leicstershire bowler Nathan Buck (@NathanBuck17) tweeted simply, “Prince Harry #LAD” while Stuart Broad (‏@StuartBroad8) criticised the media for not understanding the rules of Las Vegas: “I know the rules. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas....”

On the other hand Graeme Swann (@Swannyg66) appeared to be shocked by the whole affair, “I'll admit when I saw the headline 'prince Harry hanging out in Vegas' I was expecting a more mundane picture.”

In other news England’s T20 squad for the upcoming world cup was announced; Twitter was used as the arena for cricketers to express their jubilation and disappointment at the team list. Matt Prior (@MattPrior13) tweeted, “Gutted not to be included in the T20 squad but life goes on. Big congrats to @lukewright204 for getting back in great work mate!#goodluck…On a brighter note Lords yesterday was as good an atmosphere as you'll ever get and what a great advert for Test cricket! Thanks for all...”

In contrast, Jonny Bairstow (@jbairstow21) was jubilant: “Over the moon about being in the squads!! Very excited for the next 6 weeks ahead!!! #worldcup”

Michael Vaughan (@VaughanCricket) reacted to the squad list by mentioning the omission of Kevin Pietersen and giving his prediction for the championships, “T20 is the format England will miss KP more than any other... Retaining the trophy will be a tough ask in Sri Lanka.. SA are my tip...”

It seems that age is catching up with Mark Butcher (@markbutcher72), as not only did he turn forty this week but he also took his daughter on her first date: “Just dropped my eldest daughter off at the cinema to meet her boyfriend. Feeling slightly ill.”

The final word this week must go to the South African captain Graeme Smith (@GraemeSmith49). This week his side became the number one Test Match team in the world and he took the opportunity to thank everybody for a fantastic year: “Enjoying chance to reflect on what has been an incredible 2 months of milestones, test wins,my daughters birth and being no's 1 test team! Just cannot thank everyone enough for the messages received over last 2 days! humbled and grateful at the support myself and team received.”
