New Zealand have called up uncapped off-spinner Ish Sodhi and all-rounder Corey Anderson to their Test squad to tour Bangladesh.

Sodhi and Anderson have both been in action during New Zealand A's recent tour of India.

Martin Guptill, Daniel Vettori and Tim Southee were unavailable due to injury, although following ankle surgery in July, Southee may join up with the squad at a later date.

New Zealand play two Tests in Bangladesh before a limited overs series. They then move on to Sri Lanka to play three One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals.

Talking about the new caps, head coach Mike Hesson said: "Both players have been on our radar and we’ve been pleased with the consistency Ish showed with the ball on the current NZA tour while Corey made an impressive century earlier this week.

"Corey gives the squad options as he can bat in the top six and provide useful seam bowling.

"The Bangladesh tour is a good opportunity to introduce a promising spinner, and having two specialist spinners in the squad gives us the option to utilise wickets that are likely to turn."
