Sussex Youngsters To Travel To Pro ARCH Trophy

Sussex CCC is pleased to announce that Sussex Young Cricketers Educational Trust (SYCET) is helping fund the trip of three promising young cricketers to the pre season Pro ARCH Tournament held in Abu Dhabi.

Matthew Wood, Joe Gatting and Jordan Rollings will be travelling to the Pro ARCH Tournament with Sussex CCC, which will provide priceless experience and an unrivalled taste of professional cricket.

Joe, who plays his club cricket at Preston Nomads, Matt and Jordan, who both play for Brighton & Hove, have been training with the first team squad and will be looking to make an impression on the coaches during their time overseas.

Sussex travel to Abu Dhabi tomorrow (Sunday) and have their first match of the tournament against Lancashire on Thursday 19 March.

Jordan will be keeping a blog for sussexcricket.co.uk, where there is an interview with all three, during the squad’s time in Abu Dhabi.

Hugh Griffiths, SYCET secretary, said: “This is a great opportunity for the players of tomorrow to experience the professional game, both on and off the field.  SYCET is a great charity, which make donations to fund the development of Sussex Young Cricketers.  We are very proud of the fact that so many of the current first team squad are home grown Sussex players and we hope that these three players will continue this trend.”

Mark Davis, Club Coach, said: “Matt, Joe and Jordan have been training with us all winter and fully deserve this great opportunity.  We’ve already seen a big improvement in their cricket over the winter and this is a chance for them to further develop their game.  All three are tremendously exciting prospects for the club.”
