Sri Lanka have called up uncapped batsman Angelo Mathews for their forthcoming One Day International tour of Zimbabwe.

Mathews, 21, has been rewarded for a series of strong performances for Sri Lanka A and will compete for a place in the middle order after the selectors omitted Tillakaratne Dilshan and Chamara Silva.

Veteran Sanath Jayasuriya has been rested with Upul Tharanga earning a recall and he will open the batting alongside Mahela Udawatte.

Dammika Prasad replaces Chaminda Vaas, who asked to be rested ahead of a busy 2009 schedule while wicket-keeper Kumar Sangakkara returns to the squad after a finger injury.

The five-match series begins on November 10th.
