ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier Group A, Abu Dhabi
Scorecard

The United States of America stunned Scotland with a Group A six-wicket victory to open the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in Abu Dhabi.

Carl Wright struck 62 and former Stanford Superstar Lennox Cush 41 as the States overhauled Scotland's 120 for seven by reaching 121 for four with five balls to spare.

Gavin Hamilton top scored with 41 in 53 balls as Scotland's batsmen struggled to accelerate and only four of them reached double figures, Kevin Darlington taking two wickets before Jan Stander crashed 19 in eight balls at the death to get Scotland to 120.

Dewald Nel then struck to trap Sushil Nadkarni in front for one but the partnership of 97 between Wright and Cush put USA on the cusp of a famous win and although Ryan Watson grabbed a couple of wickets to finish with two for ten, the USA held their nerve to take victory.

Scotland next play Afghanistan while USA meet Ireland in their next fixture.
