Vermeulen Hits 92 Before Bangladesh Hit Back
Zimbabwe 207 (Vermeulen 92, Nazmul Hossain 3-29) v
First One-Day International, Bulawayo
Mark Vermeulen celebrated his return to international cricket with a half-century but it wasn't enough to prevent Zimbabwe being bowled out for 207 by Bangladesh in the first One-Day International in Bulawayo.
Vermeulen, back in the side following various disciplinary issues on and off the pitch, hit 92 in 128 balls with six boundaries but he was th eonly batsman to pass 20 runs as Bangladesh kept the Zimbabweans in check.
Brendan Taylor and Elton Chigumbura both made 20 as a string of batsmen got in and got out, Nazmul Hossain reaping the rewards with three for 29 and spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah picked up two wickets apiece.
Left-arm pacer Syed Rasel and leg-spinner Mohammad Ashraful were the other players to strike with the ball and Vermeulen was the seventh man to be dismissed when he was run out by Roqibul Hasan and Rasel in the 43rd over.
The match is the first in a five-game series.
