Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori will miss the two Twenty20 Internationals against England after undergoing surgery on his troublesome left Achilles.

Along with Grant Elliott and Tim Southee who picked up injuries during the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, he misses out on the pair of games at The Oval on 25th and 27th June.

Batsmen Kane Williamson and Luke Ronchi are also not included in the 14-man squad as Hamish Rutherford, Tom Latham and Roneel Hira are selected as New Zealand try to beat England.

New Zealand, who failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy after losing their final game to England, will play Kent in a warm-up match in Canterbury on Saturday 22nd June.

Despite carrying the Achilles injury throughout the tournament, Vettori has had surgery in London, where the operation went well.

"Dan has been suffering from this injury for the past year and surgery was the only option to prolong his career with the BLACKCAPS," New Zealand Cricket (NZC) physiotherapist Paul Close said.
