South African one-day international vice-captain Justin Kemp is expecting a tough battle in the upcoming series against Pakistan, although South African go into the series on the back of a 1-0 test series win.

"The guys played unbelievably well to win in Pakistan, but we also know it is going to be tough in the one-day series," said Kemp.

"Pakistan is a very good one-day side and they have done well in the Twenty20 World Cup."

Jacques Kallis, Graeme Smith and Vernon Philander will not play in South Africa's warm-up match against the PCB Patrons XI, which means Kemp will take charge. Philander has a hamstring injury and is a doubt for the opening international, on Thursday.

"Despite failing to win the big tournaments, South Africa had done fairly well in one-day series over the last two years," Kemp added.

"I don't think there is too much pressure on us going into this series because our form in one-day matches has been good."
