Victoria 108-2 (Hussey 47no, Finch 38no) beat
Wayamba 106 (Jayawardene 51, Siddle 4-29) by eight wickets
Champions League Group A, Centurion Park

Victoria raced to an emphatic eight-wicket win over Wayamba that kept their hopes of progressing in the Champions League well and truly alive at Centurion Park.

After bowling the Sri Lankan champions out for just 106 in 16.3 overs, Victoria reached their victory target in 13.2 overs with captain David Hussey leading the way, unbeaten on 47 in 28 balls.

Despite the low score registered by Wayamba, Mahela Jayawardene scored 51 in 40 balls and skipper Jehan Mubarak made 44 in 30.

However, no other player could reach double figures and extras was the next highest scorer with six - an incredible scorecard saw two players dismissed for two, Ajantha Mendis made one and the other six players failed to score; Chanaka Welagedara unbeaten.

Most of the damage for Victoria was done by Peter Siddle, who returned four for 29 while there were two wickets apiece for James Pattinson and Andrew McDonald.

In reply, Brad Hodge fell for eight and Matthew Wade made five before he was bowled by Isuru Udana before Aaron Finch and Hussey got the job done for the Bushrangers.

Finch hit four fours and a six in his unbeaten 38 in 36 balls while Hussey blasted four fours and two sixes in his explosive innings.
