Watch Cricket World's news video as we review the opening Test of the 2013-14 Ashes series in Brisbane and look ahead to the rest of the tour.
England started the match reasonably well but were left soundly beaten, by the margin of 381 runs, at the end as Australia went 1-0 up in the series with a day to spare.
Centuries from Michael Clarke and David Warner as well as 10 wickets in the match from Mitchell Johnson laid the foundations for a convincing win.
England lost six wickets for nine runs during the first innings and never recovered.
They must also face the remainder of the tour without Jonathan Trott, who is heading home due to a stress-related illness.
