Australia captain Michael Clarke tells journalists at Old Trafford, venue for the third Test in the series, that he still believes his team can win the Ashes.
After the 347-run defeat to England at Lord's, Clarke said then that he remained confident and he has re-iterated his belief that his team can win the final three games in the series.
To do so, they must show significant improvement with Clarke and his fellow specialist batsmen badly needing to make big contributions.
"I honestly believe we can win this series," Clarke says. "I know there's a lot of people out there who would laugh at me saying that, but I wouldn't be here today if I thought this team wasn't good enough to have success.
"If I didn't think I could get the best out of these players I certainly wouldn't be captain of this team. Like I say the reality is our backs are against the wall, there's no doubt about it, but if we play our best cricket I think we'll give it a real shake the rest of this series."
