Interviews
Ahead of the launch of the first ever South Asian News Channel in the UK, News18 India, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, IBN Network, spoke to us to offer his thoughts on the spot-fixing controversy that continues to dog Indian cricket. He brings us right up to date with the latest developments, talks about the impact the case has had and will have on the Indian Premier League and whether legalising betting in India would help prevent such controversies in the future.
The clash between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in Cardiff will be the final game in the first round of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, after which all sides will have played once apiece. Ahead of the match, captains Brendon McCullum and Angelo Mathews spoke at their press conferences, McCullum looking forward to beginning their campaign and Mathews wary of the threat that the Black Caps pose.
The first clash of arch rivals at the Champions Trophy 2013 is tomorrow's England v Australia match-up at Edgbaston, the venue where Michael Vaughan led his side to a two-run win in the 2005 Ashes series. Whether the One-Day International will be as close as that remains to be seen, but in this cricket video, Vaughan, who also led England to the final of the 2004 Champions Trophy, previews the match.
Chris Gayle is one of only four players - Sir Don Bradman, Brian Lara and Virender Sehwag are the others - to have scored two Test match triple-centuries. In this video, he talks to Cricket World TV about what is involved in building such an innings, both physically and mentally, having hit 317 against South Africa and then 333 against Sri Lanka most recently.
Chris Gayle chatted to Cricket World TV during the launch of the Chris Gayle Academy in London, a project which aims to use cricket to develop young people into community leaders both in England and around the world. In this interview clip, he focusses on the Champions Trophy, reflecting on being part of the side that won in 2004, how they might fare in 2013, and whether he could one day emulate Sachin Tendulkar by scoring a double-century in a limited overs match.
Sir Ian Botham famously scored 149 not out to help England beat Australia in the 1981 Ashes Test match at Headingley after following on. During the match, England were 500/1 to win the match and while it is well known that two Australians had money on an England win, in this video where Botham reflects on the epic match, he reveals that one of his team-mates also bet on an unlikely home win...
