Video - Dickie Bird's Yorkshire Memories

Former Yorkshire cricketer and umpire Dickie Bird remembers scoring 181 against Glamorgan...and then getting dropped for the next match.

Before becoming a much-loved umpire, Bird played for Yorkshire between 1956 and 1959, then for Leicestershire between 1960 and 1964.

In a match against Glamorgan in 1959 at the Park Avenue in Bradford, Bird opened the innings and hit 181 not out to help Yorkshire complete an innings win.

However, as he tells us, even that fine innings wasn't enough to keep him in the side, and at the end of the season he moved on to Leicestershire.

Bird was talking to us at an event held at Sheffield Collegiate CC, hosted by Iconic Event Management, as part of Yorkshire's 150th anniversary celebrations.
