Video - Rahane Has Confidence In Dhoni, Shami

Watch as Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane says he is confident ninth-wicket pair MS Dhoni and Mohammad Shami will put on enough runs to keep his side in the third Test in Southampton.

Please note this video will be available to view until 11th July 2014, after which time the player above will display the latest available content.

Rahane made 54 while Dhoni was unbeaten on 50 as India closed day three of the match on 323 for eight, still 246 runs behind England.

The tourists will be aiming to pass the follow-on target, but Rahane has plenty of confidence in his captain and Shami to do the job and close the gap on England.

"In a positive way, now (MS) Dhoni and (Mohammed) Shami are batting and we saw what Shami did in the first Test match," Rahane said.

"So, I'm sure we'll get a good partnership tomorrow and it's going to be a good game because still two more days to go.

"Funny game, so hopefully we'll do well," he added.

India lead the five-match series 1-0 after a draw at Trent Bridge and a 95-run win at Lord's, where Rahane scored a fine century.

Today, however, he made a half-century only to give his wicket away when he failed to despatch a Moeen Ali long hop and was caught at mid-wicket.
