One batsman praises another as India's Murali Vijay lauds New Zealand's 'brilliant' Brendon McCullum after day two of the first Test in Auckland.
McCullum scored 224 in 307 balls to help New Zealand post 503 all out before India closed on 130 for four; Murali Vijay one of the players to be dismissed, for 26.
Vijay was full of praise for McCullum, saying that his innings was one of those occasions where there was little anybody in the Indian team could do to stop him scoring runs.
"When someone bats like that you cant do too much because Brendan batted brilliantly for them," Vijay said.
"I thought there were times when he could get out, but he carried on and got a biggie. That's made the difference, I guess."
And he refused to lay any blame at the door of his bowlers, who he said were simply unable to dismiss a man in great form.
"You just got to admire it because the way he plays the shots and the amount of confidence he has in himself is a great thing to watch and learn.
"But we did bowl well according to our plans, but he just batted brilliantly."
