The latest Ashes Test has proved once again that England against Australia is one of the most celebrated and intense rivalries in international sport.
Fans are in for a treat as over the next seven months the two sides are playing 25 matches in all three forms of the game.
To mark a unique Ashes double-header, leading sports performance brand ASICS has released a video featuring Eoin Morgan and Shane Watson, who are bound to be involved as the two teams clash in Tests, ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals.
The two minute video explores what it means to pull on your shirt against the old enemy, how the historic rivalry shapes every cricketers childhood dreams, why performing against your greatest rivals can make or break you as a player and the physical differences taking on your fiercest rivals has on a player.
Having played in two previous Ashes series, Australian opener Shane Watson knows more than most what it means, “It’s as simple as us Aussies hate losing to the Poms. It runs so deep, deeper than I could ever imagine. That gives you that extra edge to your performance."
Eoin Morgan, who has captained the ODI and T20 team in historic limited overs matches against Australia, still has ambitions of playing in an Ashes series for England, and said, "If you win, you’ve got the chance to go and put your name down in history. It’s this carrot of writing history that really helps me maximise my performance."
