Australian international Adam Voges will replace compatriot David Hussey as Nottinghamshire's overseas player for the end of the season in what will be his third spell at the club.
Nottinghamshire were looking for another overseas player to bolster their assault on both the County Championship and the Clydesdale Bank 40 competitions as Hussey will be participating in the Champions League T20 with Victoria.
"At this stage of the season it is important that anyone that we bring in is familiar to us and Adam fits the bill perfectly," said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
"He has made significant contributions for us in the past and he was very keen to see out the season with us when it became clear that David would have to return home."
During Voges' stint at the club in 2009, he scored 697 Championship runs while he has played 14 One-Day Internationals and four Twenty20 Internationals for Australia.
