Indian batsman VVS Laxman has been ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh after injuring his hand on day four of the first match in Chittagong.
Batsman Laxman, whose unbeaten 69 in the second innings helped set up India's 113-run victory, injured his hand when he dropped a chance in the slips offered by Shahriar Nafees late on day four.
He left the field and was replaced by Pragyan Ojha for the final day's play and he has had ten stitches inserted in the wound.
India will not call up a replacement player and it is understood that captain and wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh are set to be available for the second and final Test, which begins on Sunday, 24th January, after recovering from the injuries that kept them out of the Chittagong game.
Laxman has played 108 Tests for India.
