Warwickshire have confirmed that leg-spinner Imran Tahir and batsman Varun Chopra have signed for the Bears ahead of the 2010 season.
Tahir, who has had impressive spells with Hampshire, Yorkshire and Middlesex, will be Warwickshire's overseas player for the 2010 season pending fitness checks and the approval of a work permit.
“Imran is a great signing for the Bears," Director of Cricket Ashley Giles told the club's website (www.edgbaston.com).
"He brings with him knowledge and experience that will add much to our young, developing squad. Not only is his first class bowling average impressive but his one day figures are up there with the best. I am sure that Imran will be a valuable addition to our attack next summer."
22-year-old former England Under-19 captain Chopra moves from Essex and has signed a three-year deal.
“I am delighted to be joining Warwickshire in 2010," he said. "The combination of joining one of the country’s biggest clubs, playing at a Test Match ground and working with Ashley Giles was too good an offer to refuse. I enjoyed my time at Essex hugely and cannot thank enough Paul Grayson, Graham Gooch and the rest of the playing and support staff but I can’t wait to take on this new challenge and to try and fulfill my ultimate ambition of playing for England.”
