Warwickshire Renew Troughton & Groenewald Contracts

Warwickshire have announced that they have extended the contracts of batsman Jim Troughton and all-rounder Tim Groenewald.

Both have earned two-year extensions, which for Troughton would represent his eighth year with the county having scored over 4,000 runs for Warwickshire.

He said, "I have been with Warwickshire CCC since I was 12 and I I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time with the Club. I love representing the Bears and look forward to scoring more runs and contributing to a successful Warwickshire side in the future.”

Groenewald, a hard hitting player who has been featuring heavily in the Sky Sports Sixes League this season, joined Warwickshire in 2006.

He said, "It has been brilliant to play in the first team this season and I have enjoyed being able to contribute with both bat and ball. I am thrilled that the club have shown confidence in me and awarded me a further contract and I hope I can continue to prove myself during the next 2 seasons.”

Director of Coaching, Mark Greatbatch, commented, “Both Troughts and Tim have had solid seasons this summer and deserve their contract extensions. They are both well-liked and well rounded members of the squad who I will continue to enjoy working with next season.”
