New Zealand wicket-keeper BJ Watling has been ruled out of the second and final Test against England which begins at Headingley on Friday with a knee injury.
He picked up the injury during New Zealand's 170-run defeat in the opening match at Lord's and will be replaced - as he was at the home of cricket - as wicket-keeper by captain Brendon McCullum.
Watling trained with the side at Headingley two days before the start of the match but was unable to sufficiently prove his fitness and as he misses out on selection, back into the side comes specialist batsman Martin Guptill.
He is set to bat at number six and left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori could be poised for a return to the side after he also trained with the team in Leeds.
Spinner Bruce Martin suffered a calf injury at Lord's and will miss the second Test.
