Watson Returns To Australia ODI Squad In Place Of Khawaja
Shane Watson is poised to make his latest return from injury after being named in Australia's squad for the third and fourth One-Day Internationals against the West Indies.
He has been absent since the third Test against Sri Lanka, missing the five-match ODI series that followed, both Twenty20s and the first two matches of this series which were both won by Australia.
He replaces Usman Khawaja and will play as an opening batsman as the series moves on to Canberra (6th January) and Sydney (8th February).
"Shane Watson comes back into the squad for the Commonwealth Bank Series against West Indies as an opening batsman," National Selection Panel Chairman John Inverarity confirmed.
"Shane has recovered from his injury and we look forward to seeing him get back to his best," he added.
"He has replaced Usman Khawaja in the 13-man squad for the fixtures at Manuka Oval and the Sydney Cricket Ground."
Australia won the opening match by nine wickets after bowling the West Indies out for 70 and prevailed in the second match by 54 runs.
Australia ODI squad: Michael Clarke (captain), George Bailey, Ben Cutting, Xavier Doherty, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Phillip Hughes, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, Shane Watson
