Wayamba 118-9 (Vandort 42, Kulatunga 41) beat
Victoria 103-4 (Hodge 44no, Welagedara 2-18) by 15 runs
Airtel Champions League Group D, Delhi

Wayamba beat Victoria by 15 runs in the final game in Group D of the Champions League in Delhi, although Victoria were still able to progress as the group was decided by net run rate with all teams taking a win apiece.

With run-scoring not getting any easier at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Wayamba defended a score of 118 for nine by restricting Victoria to 103 for four as Chanaka Welagedara picked up two for 18 in four overs, although Victoria only needed to reach 83 to qualify.

Wayamba's innings was built around scores of 42 from Michael Vandort and 41 from Jeevantha Kulatunga; aside from Jehan Mubarak, who made ten, no other batsman reached double figures as Shane Harwood took three for 14 and Clint McKay and Andrew McDonald both bagged a brace of wickets.

Vandort and Kulatunga put on 81 runs for the second wicket, nearly 70 percent of the overall total.

Brad Hodge was left unbeaten on 44 in 52 balls as Victoria were kept in check by Welagedara, Ajantha Mendis (1-21) and Farveez Maharoof (1-19).

Although those three were the wicket-takers, Rangana Herath conceded just ten runs in four overs, Tissara Perera 11 in three and only Kaushal Lokuarachchi, whose one over of leg-spin disappeared for 18, gave the Victorian batsmen much hope.

Andrew McDonald blasted 27 in 16 balls, unbeaten alongside Hodge at the end with Cameron White managing just 11. That was, however, enough for Victoria to go through.
