WBCC Appoint George Abraham As President

George Abraham of India has been unanimously elected as President of the World Blind Cricket Council replacing Geoff Smith who resigned in March 2008 because of ill health. Other changes on the executive were the confirmation of Rory Field as Global and European Development Director replacing Miles Northwood and Sultan Shah as Asian Development Director replacing Agha Shoukat Ali. However, Agha Shoukat Ali has now assumed the position as President of the Asian Blind Cricket group. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has been approved as the 10th member of the World Blind Cricket Council. The 13th annual general meeting of the organization was held in Delhi, India at the Y.M.C.A. Conference Centre on November 15th – 16th respectively. In his acceptance speech, President George Abraham noted that it was time for the organization, despite the many challenges it faces, to focus on global registration, marketing and seeking professional help in carrying out its objectives. The next annual general meeting is set for November 2009 at a venue to be announced by the end of February 2009. © WBCC
