Batsman Wes Durston has signed a two-year full-time contract with Derbyshire having impressed following his signing on a short-term deal from the Unicorns.
After being released by Somerset last year, Durston starred in the early stages of the Clydesdale Bank 40 for the Unicorns, a team of players without first-class contracts, which led Derbyshire to snap him up for their Friends Provident t20 campaign.
Durston, 29, will now be registered for all competitions having proved himself with a century against Nottinghamshire and an unbeaten 71 against Durham in the space of 48 hours.
“The original Friends Provident t20 contract signed by Wes gave him an opportunity to prove himself," Head of cricket John Morris said.
“The way he has performed in all facets of the game, as well as his attitude and professionalism both on and off the field, has convinced us that he will be an excellent addition to our squad for all forms of cricket.”
