West Indies 253-5 (Powell 72, Edwards 71no) v Bangladesh
Second Test, Dhaka, day one
Kraigg Brathwaite, Kieran Powell and Kirk Edwards all scored half-centuries as the West Indies closed the opening day of the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka on 253 for five.
Brathwaite made 50, Powell 72 and Edwards was unbeaten on 71 but a brace of wickets from Nasir Hossain ensured that Bangladesh did not allow the tourists to have things all their own way.
Brathwaite and Powell scored 100 before the first wicket fell when Brathwaite was caught by Imrul Kayes off Rubel Hossain while Powell and Edwards put on 55 for the second wicket, which came when Powell was bowled by debutant Suhrawadi Shuvo.
Nasir Hossain then trapped Darren Bravo in front for 12 and had Shivnarine Chanderpaul (18) caught by Mushfiqur Rahim as Bangladesh fought back.
They continued the fightback when Shakib Al Hasan bowled nightwatchman Kemar Roach for six but Edwards, facing 168 balls, and Marlon Samuels, unbeaten on 16, stood firm.
The opening game in Chittagong saw two of the first four days washed out by rain and the match was drawn.
