West Indies are the latest team to announce their 30-man provisional squad for the World Twenty20 to be held in Sri Lanka in September. They have included all the regulars in a squad that contains no real surprises.
Carlton Baugh, Devon Thomas and Denesh Ramdin will battle it out for one wicket-keeping spot in the final 15-man squad which is due to be announced by August 18th, while Sunil Narine leads a strong spin attack, with the likes of Devendra Bishoo, Nikita Miller, Samuel Badree and Shane Shillingford all battling to partner him in the slimmed down squad.
Another area of contention is the identity of Chris Gayle’s opening partner at the top of the order. Lendl Simmons and Johnson Charles are the leading candidates, but there are other possible contenders in the squad.
