Mathurin Predicted Performance - Sammy

West Indies captain Darren Sammy has revealed that prior to returning figures of three for nine that bowled his side to a Twenty20 International victory over England at The Oval, left-arm spinner Garey Mathurin had predicted that he would produce such a performance.

Sammy said that Mathurin, called up as a late addition to the touring party when Ashley Nurse failed a fitness test, predicted that he would take four for ten.

Left-arm spinner Garey Mathurin returned record figures for a debutant of three for nine and four England batsmen were run out as the West Indies claimed a 25-run win in the second and final Twenty20 International at The Oval. The West Indies posted what looked like a meagre total of 113 for five but hit back to dismiss England for just 88 - by far their lowest score in a Twenty20 International.
England demolished the West Indies to pick up a first ever ten-wicket win in Twenty20 International cricket by delivering a polished all-round performance in the first of two matches at The Oval. The West Indies collapsed from 104 for three to 125 all out as Ravi Bopara returned national record figures of four for 10 before unbeaten half-centuries from Alex Hales and Craig Kieswetter saw England home with almost five overs to spare.
Former West Indies captain Jimmy Adams offers his thoughts ahead of the two-match Twenty20 International series between England and the West Indies at The Oval. The games are to be played on 23rd and 25th September and round off England's summer of cricket.
The West Indies have made a late change to their squad to play England in two Twenty20 Internationals at The Oval on 23rd and 25th September. Left-arm spinner Garey Mathurin, from Saint Lucia, has been called up as a replacement for Ashley Nurse, who the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have withdrawn from the squad.
Graeme Swann will captain England for the two-match Twenty20 International series against the West Indies later this month and become England's fith captain of the summer. As regular Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad and vice-captain Eoin Morgan are both unavailable due to injuries the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have appointed Swann as the stand-in skipper.
Stuart Broad, the England all-rounder and Twenty20 International captain, has been ruled out of the end of the international summer and the one-day leg of his side's upcoming tour of India this winter. The Nottinghamshire man tore a muscle in his right shoulder during the closing stages of India's innings in the fourth One-Day International at Lord's.
Keith Prowse, the UK's hospitality leader, will give corporate hospitality a Caribbean twist for England's two NatWest International T20's against the West Indies at the Kia Oval (Friday 23rd September and Sunday 25th September). Levi Roots, celebrity chef and maker of the legendary Reggae-Reggae sauce, has contributed to Keith Prowse’s Caribbean menu for corporate hospitality facilities on the Roof Terrace, 2nd Floor Lounge and OCS Boxes in the OCS Stand, as well as across the ground in the Pavilion Stand.
