West Indies Women 127-7 beat
Sri Lanka Women 104-8 by 23 runs
First Twenty20 International, Barbados

The West Indies Women beat Sri Lanka Women by 23 runs in the first Twenty20 International in Barbados to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Batting first, the home side scored 127 for seven before Sri Lanka closed on 104 for eight in reply.

Shanel Daley continued her superb run of form by scoring 48 in 28 balls, Juliana Nero made 22 and captain Stafanie Taylor scored 13 at the top of the order.

Shashikala Siriwardene took a brace of wickets, a haul match by both Anisa Mohammed and Taylor when Sri Lanka batted.

They struggled to build partnerships and Siriwardene's top score of 33 in 24 balls was not enough to get Sri Lanka close to victory.
