Gloucestershire have confirmed that wicket-keeper Steve Adshead is to leave the club after his contract was not renewed for the 2010 season.

Adshead joined Gloucestershire from Worcestershire and a possible return has been mooted after Worcestershire lost Steven Davies to Surrey but Adshead revealed he is sad to be leaving Nevil Road.

"I have really enjoyed my time at Gloucestershire and am sad to leave. I'd like to thank everyone at the Club for their support," he told the club's website (www.gloscricket.co.uk).

Director of cricket John Bracewell added: "It is unfortunate to release Steve as he has performed very well for the 1st team this year. We must continue to strengthen the squad at every opportunity. We wish Steve every success and know that he will continue to prove to be a professional of the highest standard."

Adshead, who has also played for Shropshire and the Leicestershire Cricket Board, has taken over a century of catches in both first-class and One-Day cricket.
