Wickets Tumble In Savar After Washout
After the first day of Sri Lanka's tour-opening match against the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI was washed out, 12 wickets fell for 124 runs on day two of three in Savar.
Sri Lanka closed on 36 for two having lost opener Malinda Warnapura and Chamara Kapugedera without scoring but earlier the BCB XI, containing five likely starters in the first Test on December 26th, was bowled out for 88.
Opener Imrul Kayes hit 26, Saikat Ali 22 and Raqibul Hasan 19 but no other batsman could reach double figures as Sri Lanka's bowlers ran riot. Rangana Herath, a late replacement for Ajantha Mendis, picked up six for 16 with his left-arm spin, Muttiah Muralitharan took two for six and there was a wicket apiece for Chaminda Vaas and Dammika Prasad.
Sri Lanka were three for two in their reply as both Warnapura and Kapugedera were bowled, by Tareq Aziz and Shahadat Hossain respectively before Michael Vandort (17 not out) and Mahela Jayawardene (14 not out) steadied the ship.
