We have a signed copy of 'Howzat' by Grahame Lloyd, the book that has provoked a row over the famous over in which Sir Garry Sobers hit six sixes in 1968, to give away.
The book, nominated for the 2014 MCC/Cricket Society Book Of The Year award, lays out new evidence about the sale of a cricket ball that was supposedly the one hit by Sobers for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan.
It also ignited a row involving the bowler at the time - Malcolm Nash.
Howzat? The Six Sixes Ball Mystery features extensive interviews with Sobers, Basharat Hassan, and Jose Miller, the ex-secretary of the Nottinghamshire Supporters’ Association who sold the ball at Christie’s in 2006.
They were conducted partly for a Wisden article which was later dropped because, at the time of printing, Christie’s had not produced a response to Lloyd’s evidence.
"...a meticulously-researched investigation featuring a rich cast of characters, deployed with a deft storytelling touch by Lloyd.." Newstatesman.com
"For anyone looking to curl up in front of the fire with an intriguing story, this book will be as good a choice as any piece of fiction." Newark Advertiser
"One of the most prolonged and thorough examinations that any auction lot has ever been subjected to…it certainly makes for an intriguing and engaging tale." Antiques Trade Gazette
