Cricket Australia (CA) have celebrated International Women's Day by handing a $10,000 bonus to their 2013 Women's World Cup-winning squad.

The bonus, has been awarded to each player involved in Australia's successful campaigns in the ICC Women's World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in 2012 and the World Cup in India earlier this year.

CA also confirmed that they will renew the contract of women's coach Cathryn Fitzpatrick.

"Our players make many sacrifices to represent Australia as semi-professional cricketers and their performances are resulting in fans and media sitting up and taking notice of women's cricket," Wally Edwards CA Chairman said.

"Hopefully, their consistently excellent and entertaining performances will see women's cricket one day attracting commercial support from telecasters and sponsors that will see the game capable of supporting full-time professional female cricketers," he added.

The world-leading Australian team currently hold the Ashes, the World Twenty20, World Cup and Rose Bowl crowns. Their success in Sri Lanka saw them retain the title they won in the West Indies in 2010 while the win in India was their sixth World Cup title.
