The chief executive of leading British-based cricket equipment manufacturer Woodworm today praised England’s resounding Ashes victory over Australia.

Simon Millington, whose Woodworm brand sponsors Ashes hero Chris Tremlett, said of England’s emphatic 3-1 series win, their first in the country since 1987: “To retain the Ashes in Australia is one thing, but to hand out a 3-1 thumping is quite another matter.

“The spirit, teamwork and quality of play exhibited by this current England team was exceptional and was simply too good for Australia who looked and played like a spent force for most of series.

“And a lot of the England team are still young but with a lot of experience, so the future for the side is extremely bright, especially with the World Cup just around the corner.”

Surrey paceman Tremlett wielded an iconic Woodworm bat in the Ashes series a scoring 19 runs in the last three test matches and taking 17 wickets.

Woodworm is owned by The Sports PLC, one of Europe’s leading online sports and leisure e-tailers, who completed the purchase of the iconic cricket bat and golf company in 2008.
