Worcestershire Confirm Signing Of Simon Jones

After days of speculation, Worcestershire CCC can confirm the signing of 28 year old fast bowler, Simon Jones, on a two year contract. Jones, who played such an important part in the regaining of the Ashes in 2005 with 18 wickets during the series, has a great deal of international experience including 5 international tours and is capable of bowling at 85-90mph.

Director of Cricket, Steve Rhodes, says "This has the potential of being the Club's biggest signing since the days of Botham and Dilley. He is a proven strike bowler with the ability to reverse swing the ball very effectively. He has proved himself at the highest level but what has impressed me most during our discussions is his overwhelming desire to regain his England place. We always try to sign players who are motivated to perform consistently well and Simon clearly fulfills this criteria."

Simon Jones says "I am really excited about joining Worcestershire and I'm sure I will fit in well with the rest of the squad having toured with Gareth Batty, Vikram Solanki and Kabir Ali in previous years. I know most of the players in the team and I am focused on helping the Club secure more titles next year. I have no doubt it will be an enjoyable and productive move."
