The MCC Cricket Academy at Lord’s Cricket Ground has bolstered its world-class facilities following the installation of state-of-the-art PitchVision software, the creation of a new Lord’s Cricket Store and the opening of a new on-site coffee shop.

From junior cricketers to international Test match stars, users of the PitchVision ‘net’ will benefit from instantaneous video feedback on their batting and bowling performances.  Access to such technology is often usually reserved for professional players, such as members of the England squad who trained at Lord’s in preparation for the current tour to India.

However, the introduction of PitchVision to the MCC Cricket Academy represents just the latest addition to the MCC Performance Analysis Suite, which is still the only facility in the world where any budding amateur cricketer or umpire can also access the famous Hawk-Eye ball tracking system as a training tool.

Positioned alongside the world class training facilities is the new Lord’s Cricket Store.  Dedicated to the provision of specialist cricket equipment, and staffed by experienced and knowledgeable current players, the Lord’s Cricket Store is the ideal place for cricketers of all abilities to source their playing equipment.  In addition to boasting an extensive range of the latest and best gear on the market, the location of the Lord’s Cricket Store – directly adjacent to the eight-lane playing facility – uniquely means that players can try kit samples before they buy.

Away from all the cricket action, players and spectators can also now relax in the new coffee shop located on the mezzanine level of the MCC Cricket Academy.  Open from 8.00am until close of play seven days a week, the coffee shop offers a range of cakes, pastries, salads, sandwiches and hot and cold drinks throughout the day.

Speaking about the enhanced training experience now available at Lord’s, MCC Cricket Academy Manager, Fraser Stewart said:

“The MCC Cricket Academy has always been regarded as one of the world’s finest indoor coaching venues but the Club continually wants to enhance and develop its facilities at Lord’s.  In particular, the installation of PitchVision means that players of all levels can now access the very best training aids and coaching to help improve their skills.  Our coaches have already reported that players are picking-up technical aspects much more quickly now that they can see themselves in action on the screen.

“The new coffee shop and Lord’s Cricket Store also contribute to the exciting expansion of the MCC Cricket Academy, and all of the recent additions combine to enhance the overall training experience on offer at the Home of Cricket.”
The latest developments at the MCC Cricket Academy add to a full facilities refurbishment which occurred at the end of 2011.  This included the replacement of the nets and playing surface, in addition to an upgrade of the lane lighting to a more efficient system, and a deep clean of the internal and external walls.
