Members of the England's victorious 2017 Women's World Cup team were honoured in Wemberley during the first NFL game between Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Seven players that include the likes of Anya Shrubsole, Katherine Brunt, Tammy Beaumont, Laura Marsh, Natalie Sciver, Fran Wilson and Beth Langston were giving a standing ovation by a jam-packed crowd at the venue.
Katherine, England’s prolific fast bowler, was interviewed pitch side by Sam Quek, Olympic Gold medallist. Katherine said, “This is my first live NFL game – it is a privilege to go on the pitch in front of a packed Wembley Stadium.”
When asked if her bowling skills would make her a good quarterback, she said: “I can’t quite the spin the ball but I would love a run-out at running back!”
Shrubsole, England fast bowler and avid New York Jets fan, said “This is an incredible experience. I’ve been to one pre-season game in New York before, but the atmosphere here is much better. I’m looking forward to the rest of the game and seeing some touchdowns!”
Beaumont, England opening bat and Player of the Tournament, said: “Walking out in front of a full Wembley stadium and hearing so many people cheering our names is a great feeling and an experience I will never forget.”
