Wrenthorpe's took a big step towards retaining the Solly Central Yorkshire League title by beating one of their main rivals New Farnley. By David Markham

David Paynter (85) and skipper, former Yorkshire all-rounder Gary Fellows (62) shared a 129-run stand to steer Wrenthorpe to a five wicket win after New Farnley collapsed from 167-2 to 202 all out. Pace bowlers Joe Ellis (4-40), Greig Batty (2-44) and Neil Gill (2-39) were Wrenthorpe's chief wicket takers.

Methley kept their title hopes alive with a seven wicket win over Hunslet Nelson - a result that lifted them into second place.
Simon Purdy took 3-22, Hemantha Alles 3-48 and Chris Leaf 2-37 as Hunslet were shot out for 121. Openers Hamid Khan with 68 not out and Nick Connolly 34 put on 76 for the first wicket to set Methley on their way to a comfortable victory.

Bottom club Ossett's relegation was confirmed when they lost by seven wickets to fellow strugglers Wakefield St MIchael's, who are favourites to join them in Division One next season.

St Michael's are eight points adrift of third from the bottom Birstall, who improved their survival chances by beating Mirfield Parish Cavaliers by 32 runs. Skipper Stewart Clifton top scored with 76 in Birstall's total of 206-6 before they bowled out Mirfield for 174 with Craig Wood taking 6-44 and Kevin Watson 3-54. Sri Lankan all-rounder Milan Gunarathne was unfortunate to finish on the losing side after turning in a fine performance, top scoring with 82 and taking 5-43.

Alan Burton  with 116 shared a 115-run stand with Jordan Sleightholme  54 not out as Altofts beat Townville by 13 runs.

Thanks to these two batsmen, Altofts reached 248-9. Jack Hughes led Townville's challenge with 88, but, despite a last wicket stand between Liam Smith and Dean Woolsey, they fell short on 235.
