Wrenthorpe have won the Solly Central Yorkshire League Premier Division championship for the third season in a row. With one match remaining, Wrenthorpe have an unassailable 11 point lead over Methley, their closest rivals after beating Altofts by 32 runs.

Oliver Whitaker (94) and Luke Patel (47) shared a century stand as Wrenthorpe recovered from 29-3 to reach 247-8. Altofts were then bowled out for 210 in reply, Joe Ellis and David Paynter each taking three wickets. Altofts all-rounder Jordan Sleightholme scored 42 and took 5-57 and was unlucky to finish on the losing side.

Openers Hamid Khan (73) and Nick Connolly (65 not out) shared  a 150-run stand as they led Methley to a nine wicket win over Mirfield Parish Cavaliers after the Cavaliers had made 165-6.

The fate of the bottom two clubs, Batley and Birstall will decided on the final day of the season. The two clubs, who are level on points at the foot of the table, were heavily beaten on the next to the last day of the season.

Overseas player, Sri Lankan Naweed Ghany was the only player to reach double figures, scoring 38 not out, as Batley were bowled out for a mere 58 against Wakefield Thornes, for whom Nadeera Nawela took 6-17. Batley hit back well, taking seven wickets before Thornes eased home to their three wicket win.

Birstall were bowled out for only 71 against Townville with Jack Hughes taking 4-13, Wade Lezar 2-19 and Joe Finnigan 2-14. Townville lost five wickets in reaching their modest target.

Northowram Fields avoided relegation despite losing by one wicket at Carlton. After Northowram Fields scored 208-5, the game was in the balance after they reduced Carlton to 140-7, but Carlton recovered to scrape home thanks to Chris Smith’s unbeaten 40.
