England all-rounder Luke Wright has been ruled out of the remainder of the One-Day International series against Australia.

England are 5-0 down in the series with two matches to play but the Sussex man will play no further part following a toe injury sustained in the build-up to the fifth match at Trent Bridge.

He needed stitches to after he was hit, batting against a bowling machine at Loughborough and will be reassessed before England depart to South Africa to compete in the Champions Trophy.

Dimitri Mascarenhas will remain with the squad for the final two matches at Trent Bridge (17th September) and The Riverside (20th September) and could be named as a replacement should Wright not be fit to travel to South Africa.
