Yorkshire Announce Jacques Rudolph Signing
Aged 25, the left handed middle order batsman has played 35 Test Matches for South Africa, scoring 2,028 runs with an unbeaten highest score of 222 made during his Test debut in 2003 against Bangladesh. Averaging 36 at Test level, Rudolph has a similar average in the one day format, scoring 1,174 runs at an average of 35 during 45 One Day Internationals.
Commenting on his new contract, Rudolph said, “Cricket is a game where you have to learn and improve all the time, and I believe that playing county cricket for Yorkshire will give me new and valuable experience. They have some great players at Headingley Carnegie plus some knowledgeable supporters; I can’t wait to get started”.
Stewart Regan, Chief Executive of The Yorkshire County Cricket Club said, “Obviously we are delighted to have signed a quality player such as Jacques for the next three years. He is a proven performer at the very highest level and we are sure his undoubted ability will add strength to our 2007 campaign. For Jacques to commit his future to Yorkshire proves beyond any doubt that we are making progress with the cricket side of our business and will indeed prove to our members and supporters that we are serious about competing in all forms of the game this season”.
Rudolph will join up with his new Yorkshire team mates for pre season training towards the end of March.
