Yorkshire Announce Name Change After Investment

Yorkshire have revealed that they will be known as Yorkshire Carnegie in One Day cricket this season following “a significant investment” from Leeds Metropolitan University.

Formerly known as Yorkshire Phoenix, the club will wear new black and gold kits in the Friends Provident Trophy, Twenty20 Cup and NatWest Pro40 competitions.

“We believe we are the first club in county cricket to move into such a ground breaking innovative deal,” Yorkshire chief executive Stewart Regan said.

Yorkshire will first play under the name of Carnegie, the famous Leeds college, against Roses rivals Lancashire in Abu Dhabi on March 21.
