Younus Khan became the 20th man to score a triple-century in Test cricket when he reverse swept Muttiah Muralitharan for three runs on day four of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Karachi.

Younus joins compatriots Hanif Mohammed and Inzamam-ul-Haq in reaching the milestone, passing his previous Test-best score of 267.

His 16th Test century ensured that Pakistan avoided the follow-on after Sri Lanka declared on 644 for seven after Mahela Jayawardene, himself a triple-centurion against South Africa in 2006, and Thilan Samaraweera, scored double-centuries.
