Zaheer Khan Ruled Out Of Sri Lanka Test Series
Experienced Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the three-match Test series in Sri Lanka and he will be replaced by Abhimanyu Mithun.
"Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the forthcoming Sri Lanka series because of a shoulder injury. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has chosen Abhimanyu Mithun to replace him," a BCCI statement revealed.
Zaheer will miss the series, which begins in Galle on 18th July, where Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan will play his final Test.
On his Twitter page, Zaheer told followers: "Shoulder is troubling me a little. Need to sort it out. Hope to be back soon."
He had been rested for the One-Day International and Twenty20 tour of Zimbabwe having not featured for India in a Test since although he played a part in their recent Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
Karnataka bowler Mithun flew to Zimbabwe as an injury replacement for Ranganath Vinay Kumar, although he did not play a game.
His only international appearance came against South Africa in the third ODI , where he bowled eight wicketless overs for 63 runs in a 90-run defeat in February.
