Result - New Zealand won by 7 wickets

India already had their backs against the wall at the end of day two but with Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant at the crease and Ravindra Jadeja still to come, there was still hope that India would build on their overnight lead of 97 runs and at least give their bowlers something like 180 to try and make a match out of it.

However, all their hopes were brutally crushed by the Kiwi bowlers as Vihari departed shortly after the beginning of the day's play caught behind to keeper BJ Watling. Rishabh Pant also met a similar fate.

Ravindra Jadeja was left stranded at one end on 16 as both Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah were dismissed quickly with India bowled out for 124.

A target of 132 was never going to be enough but it became all the more easy for New Zealand with both their openers reaching their half-centuries. Bumrah and Yadav tried hard but could not get the desired results.

Both openers were dismissed after reaching their half-centuries and Bumrah bagged his fifth wicket of the game by dismissing skipper Kane Williamson. Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls completed the formalities as New Zealand won by 7 wickets.

Kyle Jamieson was declared the Man of the Match while Tim Southee walked away with the Man of the Series award for his 14 wickets from the two Tests.
