Pant (27) and Vihari (42) are looking fluent at the crease and one more session in India's favour will help them to a commanding position in the Test.

Match Summary: Day 1

India 264-5

[Kohli(c) 76(163), Agarwal 55(127); Holder 3/39, Roach 1/47]

West Indies won the toss and put India to bat on a greenish pitch in Jamaica. While India decided to go with the same playing XI, Jahmar Hamilton and Rahkeem Cornwall made their debuts for West Indies.

The ball was doing a bit to begin with and after a couple of boundaries each from Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul, they had to take a back seat, especially after the arrival Jason Holder to the bowling crease.

Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara then fell in quick succession. Agarwal and Kohli steadied the innings, both notching up half-centuries. Ajinkya Rahane looked good for his 24 but was caught behind. Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant have stitched together a decent partnership and would like to carry on Day 2.

Jason Holder looked the most threatening West Indies bowlers and picked up three wickets while Kemar Roach and Rahkeem Cornwall bagged one each.

When you win the toss and put a team to bat, you expect to bowl them out on the first day itself. But, with India past 250 and with five wickets still remaining, the visitors will certainly be the happier side. Pant and Vihari are looking fluent at the crease and one more session in India's favour will help them to a commanding position in the Test.
