Abu Jayed picks four as Khulna Titans move to fourth with 18-run win
Khulna Titans 170-7 (Mahmudullah 40) beat
Chittagong Vikings 152-7 (Jayed 4-35) by 18 runs
11th game, Bangladesh Premier League, Dhaka
Abu Jayed registered figures of 35 for four as Khulna Titans overcame Chittagong Vikings by 18 runs in the 11th game of the Bangladesh Premier League in Dhaka.
This is Khulna's second win of the season as they move to the fourth position in the table while Chittagong Vikings are placed fifth.
Earlier, Chittagong won the toss and decided to bowl first - a decision that was justified as Khulna Titans lost Chadwick Walton (5), Nazmul Hossain Shanto (9) and Michael Klinger (2) within the first five overs. Sunzamul Islam (2-20) picked two wickets in it.
Rilee Rossouw (25) and Mahmudullah (40) consolidated the innings but the decisive knocks came Ariful Haque (40) and Carlos Brathwaite (30) as the last five yielded 69 runs with Khulna going on to post 170 for seven in the 20 overs.
Sunzamul was the pick of the Chittagong bowlers while Dilshan Munaweera (1-16) was handy with the ball as well for Chittagong.
Jayed (4-35) rocketed the Chittagong top order with Luke Ronchi (2), Soumya Sarkar (0) and Munaweera (10) all dismissed in quick succession. Just when Anamul Haque (18) looked to get going, he was snared by Carlos Brathwaite (1-29) as they slipped to 38 for four.
Misbah ul Haq (30) hardly had any momentum in his 37 ball knock and despite his 59 run stand with Luis Reece (22), Chittagong went on to lose the encounter by 18 runs. Jayed was declared the man of the match for his four wicket haul.
