
ACC Women’s T20 Championship 2022: Full squads, Fixtures & Preview: All you need to know
The Asian Cricket Council will conduct the Women’s T20 Championship 2022 from 17th June to 25th June, 2022 which will act as the qualifier for the 2022 ACC Women’s Asia Cup in October in Bangladesh.
The Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) is hosting the 2022 ACC Women’s T20 Championship with Oman, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Nepal, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bhutan taking part in the 10-nation competition.
Both the finalists of the Asian Cricket Council Women’s T20 Championship 2022 will qualify for the 2022 ACC Women’s Asia Cup.
Group A comprises UAE, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar and Singapore, while Group B consists of Nepal, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Bhutan and Bahrain. Top two countries from each group will make it to the semis following the single round-robin group stage format.
Mr. Jay Shah, President of the Asian Cricket Council, said at the time of announcing the event:
“The last time the ACC Women’s T20 Championship was in 2013. The revival is long overdue, and this, I believe, will set the tone for us to move faster towards the development of women’s pathway programmes in Asia. The development of women’s cricket programmes is an integral component that must be pushed forward. With this tournament, in addition to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Thailand, two more countries will be awarded the opportunity to make it to the Asia Cup.”
This will be the first time in the history of ACC Women’s T20 Championship that the top two qualifying teams will make it to the Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
