Perth Scorchers' campaign in the ongoing Big Bash League 2016-17 has been dealt a major blow after their skipper Adam Voges has been sidelined for next two weeks.
The 37-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during the 50-run defeat against Sydney Thunder on Sunday and is hoping to be fit for the home game against Melbourne Stars on 14th January.
He has been struggling for runs this season with scores of 2, 1, 1 and 3 not out but with Mitchell Marsh and Shaun Marsh set to resume their national duty for the upcoming One-Day International series against Pakistan, Voges remains vital to their chances of making to the play-offs.
Earlier in November, Voges suffered a concussion after he was hit by a bouncer from pacer Cameron Stevenson in the Sheffield Shield game at WACA.
Perth Scorchers are currently in the top of the points table with three wins from four games and are currently without Hilton Cartwright and Ashton Agar, who are linked to the Australian Test squad in the ongoing series against Pakistan.
